For a residence permit based on employment with a company, the salary of a foreign employee in 2026 starts at €1,815 gross per month. Total taxes and social security contributions amount to approximately €893 per month: around €428 in employer contributions and around €465 withheld from the employee’s salary.
How long does it take to obtain a business residence permit in Latvia?
Once the documents have been submitted, a residence permit application is reviewed within 30 days, 10 working days or 5 working days. The review period depends on the state fee paid when submitting the documents.
